Anzac Day 2020

Press Release 2

Executive Committee

Northam RSL Sub Branch

At a recent meeting of the Northam Sub Branch executive it was agreed that the following activities be promoted through the Northam district as a way for the community to honour our Anzacs.

Resources for families to access will be made available on Facebook and the sub branch website (northamrsl.com) to encourage discussion about Anzac Day. These resources include a picture of the Australian Flag, poppies and a Anzac lantern, these items could then be used as decorations for the home service on Anzac Day.

The community is encouraged to utilise local radio broadcasts of both the Dawn Service and the 11am Anzac Service. Check local guides for details.

At 11am at the Northam Memorial, Northam RSL President Mick Prytulak, will lay a wreath on behalf of the Service Community other wreaths can be laid by the President representing the organisation.

There will be a flyover at this time viewable from most homes in Northam.

Any persons attending the Memorial privately during the day must obey the COVID-19 protocols. It is requested that serious consideration be given whether your visit is essential.

Should any community group wish the President to lay a wreath on their behalf please contact the RSL Secretary by email, northamrslsb@hotmail.com or advise the florist when ordering the floral tribute who will arrange for delivery to the sub branch.

The Northam Sub Branch remind any service personnel needing assistance to contact the sub branch, confidentiality is assured.

  1. What an experience we have had. Very different from other ANZAC Day’s. Mick and Jim did the Northam RSL Sub Branch proud. To the community groups that wanted Mick to lay their wreaths thank you for your continued support our members and Veterans appreciate your thoughts.
A big thank you must go out to SB member Dave Kerr for the fly past at 11.00. This just added to the atmosphere. Also to Rob Tinette for his amplifier from the other side if the street, so everyone could hear the Last Post. To the cars that stop whilst the Last Post was being played thank you.
A hug thank you to those who took part in the Dawn service in your drive way. If you have a picture could you please send it to our email address northamrslsb@hotmail.com so we can post them
on our website or Facebook page.
    Thank you everyone.
    Lest we Forget

    Regards
