2021 Northam RSL cruise

Flyer for 2021 Northam RSL cruise. If interested please contact Clive at Northam Travel and Cruise 9622 1499

The cruise leaves Fremantle at 5:00 pm on the Friday. The ship calls into Geraldton, Broome, Darwin, Yorkey’s Knob, and then up to Papua New Guinea, finishing at Brisbane in the morning, after 14 days of luxury living. Berths are limited.

This is a great introduction to cruising, and if you’ve ever wanted to try it, but worried about being alone with strangers, this gives you the best of both worlds – local people to talk to, and you can spend time doing the activities you want to do.

Delegates from over 50 Sub- Branches attended when RSL WA held their 103 State Congress on the 15th June at the Crown Towers. This was a great year for the Northam RSL Sub-Branch, picking up the Colonel Collett Trophy – All round performance.

This is a competition between Country Sub-Branches with more than 25 members. Points are scored for welfare and advocacy access, commemoration activities, being involved with youth groups, being able to tell our story through social media, web pages or printed press, increasing membership and the all important financial paperwork is completed on time. These all add up to show the Sub-Branch is active, well-managed and involved with the community.

This is a great honour and will be appreciated by the members in the Sub-Branch. “A lot of hard work had been put into winning  the trophy”, Mick Prytulak said, “and also I would like to thank the town of Northam for always supporting the Northam RSL Sub Branch and Veterans in their community. The Remembrance Day weekend would have been the highlight for the past year. This trophy was just the icing on the cake.”

Women of Empire – Homecoming

How lovely it was to see this exhibition at the Perth Royal Show.  The tales of women who served, women who waited, women who travelled are all shown through the display of clothes and photos of individual women.

The website gives you an idea of how attractive the display.  When it returns to Western Australia (it is currently in Victoria), it will be well worth a look (or second look).  For in the First World War not all heroes wore khaki….
